TutorialPin Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

TutorialPin is designed to work locally and privately.

No account or registration

TutorialPin does not require registration, an email address, Google login, or any other account.

Information processing

TutorialPin processes checklist text only when you explicitly enter it in the Side Panel or select it and use the "Pin as Tutorial" context-menu command.

For a manually created checklist, TutorialPin processes the title and tasks you enter. You can later rename the checklist or add, edit, mark complete or incomplete, and remove its tasks.

For a checklist created from a webpage selection, Chrome supplies the selected text, the current page title, and the page URL after your explicit context-menu action. TutorialPin uses the title as the default checklist name and derives the hostname from the URL; it does not store the complete URL.

TutorialPin does not automatically read, scrape, or analyze complete webpages.

Selected or manually entered text can contain personal or confidential information. TutorialPin stores that text locally in your browser, but the extension developer does not receive or transmit it.

Data stored in your browser

TutorialPin uses chrome.storage.local to store:

If local storage cannot accept an operational error message, TutorialPin may keep that small message temporarily in chrome.storage.session. Session storage is cleared when Chrome restarts, the extension reloads, or the extension is disabled or updated.

TutorialPin does not store the complete source URL. The data remains in the Chrome profile where the extension is installed. You can delete individual tutorials inside TutorialPin. Chrome removes the extension's local storage when the extension is uninstalled.

No server collection or transmission

TutorialPin does not collect personal information on a server, transmit tutorial data to a server, use analytics or tracking, use advertising, use external APIs or remote code, make network requests, or sell or share user data. There is no backend database and no cloud backup.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

TutorialPin's use of information received through Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Local access

TutorialPin restricts its Chrome local-storage area to trusted extension contexts when the browser supports that setting. This is a defense-in-depth setting, not a claim that local data is encrypted or impossible to access. Anyone with sufficient access to your Chrome profile or device may be able to inspect local extension data.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes how data is processed, this policy will be updated before that version is distributed. For privacy questions, use the support contact shown on TutorialPin's Chrome Web Store listing.
